Changing energy tariffs

We currently pay £300 per month for gas and electricity. We're on a fixed tariff ending in July 24.

Have done the comparison and the same supplier offers a cheaper tariff that suggests we'd be paying £233 per month. However, there's a £300 exit fee.

Taking that into account, we'd be around £500 better off over the year. We've also just had a log burner installed so am hoping next winter's gas use will be reduced anyway.

So, am I right to switch or is there something I'm missing?

Have you checked the price per kwh and standing charge on the new offer? Is it actually lower than what you are paying right now?

The monthly amount isn't the value you should look at as that's not what is fixed; it's the underlying price that's fixed.
