help when buying their first home?

my friend is training to become a teacher(she already 'does' teach at a school for boys with SN ( behaviour problems) )
She was told a t the weekend that as she's looking for her first house, she 'should' get help from government(?) towards buying it like nurses do...i know nothing about the scheme although have heard that 'key' workers (is that the right phrase?)are offered help with deposits/payments etc...am lost really and shes left it to me to find out for her...can anyone set me straight please?

Yes, there is such a scheme. Don't know details about it myself, but I think you only part own the house.

You can but it's very restricted, I know someone who found the restrictions too difficult to stick to so didn't go with it. See here.
