Hi,
I am looking for advice on the cheapest way to watch telly, have internet and probably a home phone.
We currently have everything with Virgin but our bill has gone up to £80 and we don’t use it that much (hardly use the on-demand service)

We’ve had it since 2005 and it just seemed the easiest way of having a package with everything included.
As we’re moving home in a couple of months, it’s a good time to cancel Virgin and start over again.

If I tell you what we need and currently use, would you be able to help me find cheap ways of getting it?

We need fast internet for WFH
no gamers in the family
We watch mainly BBC from the main channels.
We have Disney, Netflix and Amazon prime and would like to keep it.

I would like to be able to pause live tv.

I would like a home phone.

Any tips gratefully received!

Check what provider the house you're moving to has, Virgin cables only work for virgin, where as Sky and other providers use openreach. Be useful to know as you'll need an engineer to install the new cable if its currently a virgin supplied house so you will get instalation fees too.

80 a year Disney
95 a year prime
Netflix with adverts £60 a year
Decent fibre broadband£30 a month but may get it for 25 if you ask nicely

Target of 50 a month

Voice is your odd one - what exactly do you want ?
Probably 5 a month more for a voice over fibre
If you have reasonable mobile signal an extra handset might be cheaper

Firstly if you are out of contract call Virgin (your existing provider) and ask for their 'best offer' they will probably offer a good discount for taking a new contract for 12, 18 or 24 months, if they don't....

Compare broadband prices and offers where you live on a site like 'wowcompare' https://wowcompare.co/broadband-tv-phone/compare-broadband-deals/

You can search for broadband offers by speed, price and offers with inclusive TV & Phone.

An example: If you live in a full fibre area you can get SKY Fibre 63MBs package with Sky Entertainment & Netflix included for £36 per month (or £49.50 with talk anytime phone & calls). This does not require a SKY dish as it uses SKY Go.

To save on your other TV packages

  • If you have a Lloyds Bank 'Club Lloyds' account you can get Disney+ totally FREE as your account perk. Some other banks also offer Disney+ and TV subscriptions as free perks (see if you have a qualifying account or switch your bank account to one with free perks).
  • If you want Amazon Prime it's £8.99 a month (TV with prime delivery) or £5.99 a month (just prime TV). But if you order products off Amazon unlimited prime delivery for an extra £3 per month is cheap.

Most providers don't offer genuine Broadband TV & Phone packages, so you could get cheaper but you might need to sign up individually for broadband, phone and to each individual TV service you want: NOW, Netflix, Disney, Prime etc.

Hope this helps!
