Specifically leasing or the other way, i forget what its called.
I'm really needing it explained as basically as possible as i have no experience. I dont know how leasing works or anything else and I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

We need a new car around 7k and we might have about 3k to put towards it. We really can't afford a high payment for the rest of it every month but im not sure what to do.

Have you looked at a personal loan?

See https://bank.marksandspencer.com/personal-loans/car-loan/

PCP - you put a deposit down, pay a monthly payment each month and at the end of the term (usually 48 months) you can either hand the car back or pay a "balloon" payment to keep the car.

For PCP there's normally a mileage agreed you can do each year e.g 10,000

HP - you put a deposit down and pay a monthly payment each month, at the end of the term you own the car.

How much can you afford each month? If you know which monthly payment you can pay if you pop onto a website like auto trader you can filter by the monthly payment amount you can afford, the deposit amount etc etc. That might help you see what is out there!
