Charging orders

Hi all
I realise I'm going to sound like an idiot here but bear with me. Many years ago when we were having an awful time as a family for various reasons we had to default on a debt . The company applied for a charging order on our home, I can only find paperwork of the application. I cannot find any documentation saying it's actually happened. I have looked on the land registry documents that you can buy but can't see anything other than the mortgage company on there . If it did go through where would it be please?

If there is a charge on your house then it's the land registry that will know about it.

You can email land registry with all your details and they should be able to tell you what they have on file. The take a couple of weeks to respond.

Have you still got the debt with the company? If it’s been paid off then they would have removed their charge, which is why it might not show on Land registry. If you still have the debt but it’s not on the registry then they don’t hold a charge.
