My sister's house is being repossessed the beginning of april, due to the fact that her (soon to be ex) dh has stopped paying the mortgage and she cant afford the monthly payments (she is on income support). She has 3 children. Will the local coucil house her??

Any advice on what she can do?? I feel so helpless with no advice.

Once she has officially been made homeless so if she has a date to which she has to be out of the property she should go to the local housing office with this letter

I dont know if the rules are still the same but they will offer you 1 house which you must accept then apply for transfer if you dont like it after you have taken up residency

They may only be able to offer temporary housing in the area like a B7B or a hostel but you are then on the prority list for a house

I believe that it has to be in easy distance form the school that her children attend or nursery

I had a rented house when DH and I split up and I stayed with friends after the repossesion order and was found a flat 3 weeks after I dont know wether I got "lucky" or if this is a reasonable time frame

I onder wether she would be better of seeing a solicitor as I think her H has a legal obligation to contribute towards the mortgage and of course to the childrens upbringing

Is there any equity in the house ???
