How do i check if i need to too these up? And how do I top up?

Didn't work for a couple of years when DS was small.

If you claimed chold benefit then you were given NI credits for the years you have a child under 12 so no need to pay.

State Pension - www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

Workplace pension - find out if there is an online portal, that will show contributions made.

Important info here, Martin Lewis link - if you need to make extra contributions to cover lost years back to 2006, there is a deadline in 2 years, more details here:

@CheeseAndOlives please still do the check to make sure your record is correct to date don’t rely on it being accurate.

Going forward check each year the previous year has been added. It takes 5 mins but means you can quickly correct any missing years.

Agree with Tippingadvice above.
Check yourself. Don't rely on records being correct as spending 15-minutes now to check all is ok could save a lot of work & heartache in the future.
