What do you earn …

Hapideo · 16/05/2023 22:53

Sorry this is a nosey question … but I’d love to know what people earn! As it’s all anonymous I thought I could ask as it really interests me what different jobs earn.

this is partly as I wonder how so many people can afford new cars/holidays/big houses.

I’ll add mine … I earn 68k … but can’t afford a fancy car or holidays every year. I have my own house, but it’s not big. I also didn’t get any family help so bought on my own with no help for a deposit etc.

thanks! And hopefully the question doesn’t offend anyone!

I work 3 days a week in the civil service. I earn £20k.

MidlifeConfusion · 16/05/2023 23:12

What job do you do OP?

pennypingletonpenny · 16/05/2023 23:13

65k but work 4 days a week so it’s more like 53k.

It’s ok, doesn’t feel like loads in the way that 50k used to seem like a lot of money. Things have moved on!

Hapideo · 16/05/2023 23:18

I work in HR but probably not in the roles that most people think of. I work on transactions.

I work in a state school in a post on a level with TA, 0.9, term time only. Therefore I earn about 16.5K. I am scraping together money (including what I got in my original divorce settlement) to be able to buy a house with three bedrooms so that me and my teenage son and daughter can all have our own rooms for the first time.

evianisyoung · 16/05/2023 23:19

£34k, part of a payroll team

JanglyBeads · 16/05/2023 23:19

Are you single OP? Kids? What area of the country?

Hapideo · 16/05/2023 23:22

Yes, one DC and midlands.

I earn between 50-60k self employed (it can vary) and bought my home without any help too. I don’t have a car as I live in London. I went on 5 holidays last year and will be doing the same this year, surprised you can’t afford even one on your salary but I guess childcare is ludicrously expensive

Biscuitandacuppa · 16/05/2023 23:25

I work 0.8 wte as a TA and earn about £12k a year! Looking to retrain into a new career before I’m 50.

Previously worked in the NHS for over 20yrs in a professional role but became burnt out.

Dazedandconfused10 · 16/05/2023 23:27

54k HR, live alone, no kids, own my house, have savings, can holiday if I chose to, have a car, I'd say I'm very lucky and live comfortably.

Dazedandconfused10 · 16/05/2023 23:28

Should add live in the south east

CorneliusFinnegan · 16/05/2023 23:31

I'm a technician in a private school, term time only and 24 hours a week.
Earn just over £10k a year, but pay minimal childcare for my two under 6's and we don't have a mortgage.

We're always fairly brassic by the end of the month but I used to earn more and see my kids less so I prefer it this way.

I’m always thinking about other jobs I could do, as I’d love to change career. I just can’t seem to think of any I’d be good at 🤔

£32,000 and I am a teacher. Although I am living in Asia so I get a housing allowance on top of that. I can save around £1500 a month :)

sparklelikeadiamond · 16/05/2023 23:49

My FTE salary is around £55k but I work part time so it’s around £44k. Husband is on around £35k. 3 DC. Yorkshire. Bought our house with no help. Have a big (to us) mortgage and loads of years left on it. No family childcare help. No benefits or other help other than child benefit. One holiday a year is a stretch for us. No fancy cars but also no car finance on the two cars we do have. There doesn’t seem to be much spare money these days. We were more comfortable before but DC3 and a house move and the COL crisis has left us a lot poorer and unable to save.

£18k-£20k pa working 28.5hrs (3x10hr shifts with 1/2hr unpaid break per shift) for frontline emergency ambulance service.

I'd say so! I took a new job as marketing exec for a better work/life balance but also a pay cut. I earn 26K, full time x

RedRosette2023 · 17/05/2023 07:44

4 days (28 hours so slightly less than 4 full days) local government. £37k.

Id say I am paid around 20% less than the private sector but the flexibility the local gov offer is unparalleled.

Lndnmummy · 17/05/2023 07:47

Just over six figures. Work in financial services (London).

WinchSparkle80 · 17/05/2023 07:47

£78K finance role, South, fully remote

Kyse23 · 17/05/2023 07:57

devildeepbluesea · 17/05/2023 08:01
