Understanding state pension

I just checked government gateway. It was really hard to understand. On the front page it says I will get the usual £203.85 pw if I pay NI for another 8 years (I'm 50 so no problem). However, my COPE amount is around £27. That makes sense because I was contracted out for a while. It's really not clear whether I have to take the £27 off the £203 to understand what the state pension will actually pay me. Anyone cleverer than me able to interpret the government's obfuscations?
