Help with parking fine ccj

Booyoubore · 22/04/2023 11:15

Iv been told I have a Ccj’s from October 2022
relatinb to parking fines from 2019
I have not received these as I moved home
I have had no contact from them since and they have just advised all communication has been going to my previous address despite my having updated dvla of my address

what can I do? Surely they should have made reasonable efforts to contact me ?

I would ask them. I read on another thread that DVLA are several months behind on updating records but it seems unlikely to be you ar fault if you already told them and had redirected your post with the post office. Did you change the cars log book etc

Did you update your log book with the new address details through the DVLA? It isn’t enough to update your drivers licence, you need to do both (as I found out to my cost). You can get a CCJ set aside I believe but it will cost you.

I did update them back in 2019 both dvla and driving licence

I got a ccj for this ages ago at 840 exactly same amount but this company sound dodgy a guy put the phone down on me today when I started asking questions then when I called back 10 times no answer got my partner to call and they answered straight away! They said the ccj was granted in October 22 but I asked why is this not in my credit file and they said cos it was at the prev address? Seems dodgy to me now I think about it

Hi, I had this exact same situation. The law states that the parking companies need to make 'reasonable measures' to find you at your new address, if they have reason to think you haven't been receiving their correspondence. I fought it, we went to court, they didn't attend, I won and it was wiped from my credit record. There is a lot of information and advice on how to get the ccj set aside if it was unfairly given. Good luck!

Just to add - you do have to pay to get it set aside but it a lot of cases, this is reinbursed by the parking company if the court goes in your favour

Have you actually got a CCJ or has the company just told you that you have?
This is the first thing you need to find out.

I think you should speak with citizens advice about this.

Just ignore it
