Universal credit payment

I have just done the switch from Income support to universal credit.

I have just received the payment from universal credit but I have no idea what it's actually for. Obviously it's a whole month as opposed to the weekly (which I definitely miss) but when am I likely to get the next one?

You’ll get it on the same day next month. It’s done by calendar month.

If this is your actual payment and not an advance then your next payment should be a month from today.
On your online account it should show a breakdown of how much each element is in the whole payment.

Same date every month (or the working day before if it falls on a weekend)

On your online account you can view your statement which shows a full breakdown of what you've received

If you received housing benefit before you should be careful, especially if your housing benefit was paid direct to the landlord and you have asked for this to continue.
Under universal credit your housing costs are included as the housing element - you should see it in your statement - and will by default be paid to you, not your landlord. If you request that it is paid to your landlord this will happen BUT for the first month it will come to you. So if you've received more money than you expected it's likely because you need to pay this month's rent out of that amount.
