How do I change my name?

I'm still not sure about this but am beginning to toy with the idea since registering ds2 last week (with dh's surname). I am now well and truly outnumbered and am starting to think I just want the same name as my kids. That said, I have no idea how to go about it - can anyone advise?

You can do it by deed poll here

You are entitled to call yourself anything you wish, no procedure necessary, so long as it is not for deceptive or crimnal reasons.

Although it can make things easier to do it 'officially' - I was fed up having my passport name different to everything else and changing officially vy deed poll made it all a bit easir to change the passport name.

Think I used these. Was all very straight forward and completed in a couple of weeks.

You don't need a 'deed poll' - all you need to do is write to all the relevant authorities telling them that you intend to be 'known as X' from now on and asking them to change your records, including the passport agency.

I just turned up at the bank with my marriage certificate and they give me a form to fill in. Changed my driving licence and slowly letting everyone else know.

Yes you are married and want to move over to the same name as your DH, or did you mean dp? In which case get married

I changed my name by deed poll and I have been asked for the certificate on lots of occasions to prove I had I changed it

I didn't know you could just write to everyone even DVLA asked to see it when I changed my name on my driving license

I went to a solicitor to have mine done it was really quick signed and witness there and then
