Can anyone give me a rough answer on a historic Teachers pension transfer Q?

I made a hurried transfer at the end of 2016 out of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme into the Local Government scheme. Didn’t take advice as I was nearing the 1 year deadline and had a ton of other stuff going on.

Now trying to get a grip on finances, I have checked my LGPS pension. The £44k transfer value (4.75 years service) seems to have bought me an extra £478 a year pension.

I have my last benefit statement from the TPS and it looks like high £400s pa would have been the value of the career average part of my pension (post 2015?), but there was a 60th accrual before that which looks around £3k pa.

I am clueless on these things, so go gently with me, but is it possible the whole lot didn’t transfer? My record on the TPS now just shows all my service as non-pensionable.

I assume you are doing this on the online site. Just lay it out to them and get an explanation?

Are you sure that on your LGPS record you’re not just looking at the CARE part of the transfer, and you’ve actually got the final salary bit held separately?

Anyway call your LGPS administering authority and they will be able to confirm what you’ve got.

Thank you both. I’ll talk to LGPS.
