I made a hurried transfer at the end of 2016 out of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme into the Local Government scheme. Didn’t take advice as I was nearing the 1 year deadline and had a ton of other stuff going on.
Now trying to get a grip on finances, I have checked my LGPS pension. The £44k transfer value (4.75 years service) seems to have bought me an extra £478 a year pension.
I have my last benefit statement from the TPS and it looks like high £400s pa would have been the value of the career average part of my pension (post 2015?), but there was a 60th accrual before that which looks around £3k pa.
I am clueless on these things, so go gently with me, but is it possible the whole lot didn’t transfer? My record on the TPS now just shows all my service as non-pensionable.
