Not sure if this is the right thread so apologies if not!
I'm a single mum of 2 and NHS nurse working part time and I'm looking at setting up my own aesthetics business alongside my regular nursing job. I was wondering how that works in terms of self employment and universal credit? I haven't got a clue 🤦‍♀️

Self employment and Uc can be a bit tricky. you would need to let them know that you are doing self employed work and report earnings each month. I'm not sure if the minimum income floor would apply to you if you are already working. I think you have to have an interview to see if they deem you to be gainfully self employed and you get a one year period where minimum income floor does not apply.

I would like to know about this too.

DH is self employed and we currently get tax credits, but it is changing to UC next year.

UC is administered through DWP. You would need to report a change on your journal that you are now self employed and will need to attend self employment interviews at the job centre. They should explain how to report expenses and earnings, you will need to do this each month,.
