We are waiting for our mortgage offer for a house move. We had an agreement in principle a few weeks ago.
It’s all through a broker. Should be very simple - less than 2* salary, less than 70% LTV, we have a buyer (it’s a part exchange on a new build), and the valuations on both properties were fine. No credit problems.
I do wonder if our broker is just very bad at expectation setting. They said it should take 3 days for the offer to come through, but it seems instead it’s the SLA for response that is 3 days. Every 3 days we ask for an update, and then within an hour get a request for some minor clarification which we respond to immediately, and then we wait again.
I assume there is no benefit to the lender to stalling, so do we just need to be patient and accept it will take longer than we were led to believe? Any idea how long we should expect it to take?
