Help me get my money back!

Please could you help me get my money back!

I went for a consultation at a beauty clinic last week I was interested in getting Botox for my fine lines and treatments for acne. I was very upfront about the fact I was breastfeeding and the nurse I saw told me that I could not get Botox because of this. I’d read conflicting advice re Botox and breastfeeding so thought a consultation was worth it. Because the nurse couldn’t help me she got the skin therapist to come and discus my options. We agreed that micro needling would help with the acne and the fine lines and so I paid upfront for three sessions and got you booked in for five days time. Well I went today and I was told that no I cannot have micro needling because I am breastfeeding. I explained that this was offered to me as an alternative to Botox because of the breastfeeding and so I was given incorrect advice.

The told me they gone do refunds only credit notes! I said that I wasn’t happy with £380 on a credit note until I stop breastfeeding as it is not likely to be for another year and I’d rather have the money right now. Also I made it clear that this was not my error I was misadvised which caused me to book and pay for the sessions. Is there any law that I can quote that will help me get a refund? Apparently I’ll get a call from the manager tomorrow.

How did you pay?

My debit card like an idiot

Not an idiot at all - a very sensible way to pay. If they won't refund you, call your bank and ask them to submit a chargeback, citing 'misrepresentation' (don't do 'goods not received' as the beauticians will argue the service is still available).
Make it very clear you were sold the service on the basis of it being safe while breastfeeding - that is the crux of the misrepresentation. Your bank will raise the chargeback and the beauticians will have to respond providing their evidence.

Thank you so much, I will follow this route if they continue to refuse to refund the money.

Yes, nice one. Many don't know that you can now do this, but you can. Although they beauticians can contest it, they would have a hard time considering.

If they do try to take the money back, you can take them to small claims court yourself with minimum costs.

How did you get on OP?

They are giving me my money back after some wrangling with Head Office. Thanks to everyone who replied!

Good news eventually!

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 30/01/2023 18:38

Great news, well done OP!

That's a ridiculous move by them.
If they'd refunded you, you would more than likely had gone back, had the Botox and been a customer for serval years to come. Now you'll be (rightly) telling people to steer clear.
Shortsighted of them.
