Have some RM shares that I need to sell but have never done it before - can anyone give me advice on the easiest/ most cost effective way please ?

If it’s Royal Mail shares, they have recently renamed as International Distributions Services.

Avoid Link Share dealing services, Leeds based ( see Trustpilot reviews - who gave me the runaround for a full 6 months)

The share price is low at the moment.
The next ex dividend date is probably July
You could arrange to delay and sell them just before then - when the price can often reach a peak (not always)

Thank you, yes it’s Royal Mail. I may be able to hold till July just need to know how I go bout it and how much is reasonable to pay for what is about £500

Many of the share trading brokers charge what I think is way too large a fee by percentage. (I don’t know the numbers, just feel sad that my elderly mother does this herself and won’t let me help her)

I us Hargreaves Lansdown - I think it costs me just around £12 per trade when I last looked.

But it won’t be worth your while to set up an account just for one trade…
(I have ISA etc there)

You can monitor the share price and divi dates here if of help (though many more options available elsewhere)

Maybe MoneySupermarket could have suggestions or you could ask your own bank what their rates are?

Thank you. It was more complicated than I expected- it was so easy to buy them in the first place!

If you hold them the share holding should be registered already with equinti they would be the first place to contact to sell. You can do it online but if you aren’t registered online give them a call to register etc.
