Housing benefit

Has anyone had any success backdating housing benefit. The council are telling me that my middle child was never added to my claim, until 2022 when I called about something else. (Born 2011).
In 2015 was facing losing my house due to a rent increase. The council had both my children's details yet never told me he wasnt on the claim. Where do I stand in getting this backdated?

Does the extra child make a difference to your local housing allowance as in has it changed your bedroom entitlement?

Yes it changed it from a one bed to a 2 bed entitlement

Can you prove that the council were told/knew about the existence of this child? They'll just deny it outright if not...

Did you tell the housing benefit department specifically and provide the birth certificate etc?

From my understanding you should have received a receipt when you submitted the document. This will be your proof you informed them correctly.
