Chase - cash back

Hi, following on from a Martin Lewis email, he gave a recommendation on opening a Chase bank account and for the first year they give you 1% cash back on everyday purchases. It says that you don't need to change bank accounts, not sure how that works. Just wondered if anyone had one IRL and could recommend? Thank you 😊

I have a Chase account. I just applied and started using it. As it isn't my main account (that wages go into), I just transfer some money in there every now and again. The 1% cashback has been pretty good tbh, I've made £185 since May. The savings account is also quite good.

Oh wow! That's great! So I would just transfer money from my main account into the Chase account to cover spending? Can it be used for things like Amazon, and petrol? How do you get the cash back? £185 is fab!!

Yep, that's right. It's also really easy to view the account as all done on the app and you get notifications when you spend money (or need to authorise an online purchase).
Yes, just use it for everything. Most purchases are covered but some aren't. Amazon and petrol are fine, the only thing I've found that didn't give cashback was council tax however British Gas did. I even used it in America as there are no fees and I got cashback there as well.
Cashback is super easy. You just scroll to the bottom of the page on the app and there's a box called rewards. I think I remember needing to opt in initially but then in just tots up the total as you go and you can withdraw it back into your Chase account at any time.

To be a bit clearer, withdraw it from the Rewards section, into your chase account so that you can spend it
