mortgage broker or direct?

We need to remortgage as our current deal finishes end of February. I just spoke to a broker who suggested this might be a bit tight, so we'd likely have to go to the SVR for a little while. Any idea whether it is likely to be quicker or slower going direct to the building society? (the deal is almost exactly the same).

I've found it quicker to go direct to the bank, but it's been a while since I switched providers

Have you checked to see if your current lender offer any products with no early repayment charges? This may be cheaper than the SVR rate and means you have a bit more time to look at the remortgage without going on the higher SVR rate.
