I cancelled something... can I get a refund?

I paid a £200 deposit on a photoshoot I no longer wish to have.
My initial confirmation email stated that I would lost the deposit of I cancelled with less than 14 days notice ( I gave 16).

When i emailed them they said I'd lost my deposit due to their Ts and Cs stating I had to cancel within 48 hours cooling off period.
This is different to my email.

Can i expect a refund?? They have said no.

Can you copy paste the actual t&cs Minus anything identifying?

If the initial T and C said 14 days , why don't you just forward it to them or take a screenshot showing it's in their own T and C so they can confirm ?

Make sure you screenshot everything you're about to show them as some companies changed their terms and conditions once challenged!

Thanks everyone.
The ts and Cs I received said this about cancellation

CANCELLATION: Your £199 shoot fee (and £50 deposit if applicable) will be withheld if:

  • you cancel your shoot with less than fourteen (14) days' notice
  • you do not attend the studio on the day of your shoot
  • you rearrange the date of your shoot more than once

Send a copy of the terms and conditions to them and state that under the terms you are entitled to a refund. Keep all the evidence that you have attempted to resolve this with them.

If they are still refusing to give you the refund then you can raise a visa dispute with your bank.

Did you book online?

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/changed-your-mind/cancelling-a-service-youve-arranged/

This says there's a 14 day cooling off period

Thanks everyone.
I have sent the original confirmation email to them and they said they have asked their director what to do and will let me know what he says 🙄

Thanks everyone. They acknowledged that I was sent an old version of Ts and Cs but they will refund me
