Deposited wrong amount

Hi I hope I've put this in the correct category.

I used an ATM outside my bank to deposit some Xmas money this morning (before the bank opened). I put £210 in to the envelope but accidentally typed £110 into the keyboard. I realised my mistake and decided to stick around to speak to someone. Told them my mistake and they said it would be fine and the person who deals with it all had just collected the deposits and it would be check and put in to my account. It's now 5:30 and it's not been credited. My branch is now closed.

I just wanted to pop on here and ask if this has happened to anyone else and if it was sorted easily.

Thank you in advance Smile

I did this a few years ago with nationwide. They counted it correctly and credited correctly. My cash deposits don't show until the next day.

This was with nationwide also. The lady on the reception who I spoke to said my bank would be showing the deposit within the hour.

Thanks for your reply. I'll check my bank in the morning and call them if I need to.

The machine does get counted.

I once went to withdraw some cash and was so distracted that I forgot to actually take it out of the machine Blush . I went back to that branch (not my own bank) to explain and they said that if the machine was over by the correct amount when they counted it then it would be credited back to me, as it would have sucked the money back in. It was sorted in a few days.

The amounts are checked and what you actually put in the envelope will be what is deposited. It'll be fine.
