Pip

I applied for pip in October and received a text from dwp saying we've recieved the written report of your pip assessment. We will write to you once we have made a decision. As a guide you should hear from us in 8 weeks.
I didn't have an assessment, does this mean I don't need one and does it mean il likely be awarded pip.

Did you have a telephone call - it would have been from Capita or Independent Assessment Services. Taken about 40 mins. Lots of questions? You should have had an appointment letter, with date/time of said call.

If not. It could be an error. I'd call the PIP Helpline tomorrow and ask.

It isn't unusual for PIP to be awarded WITHOUT a medical assessment though.

It's much more likely they have done a paper assessment than it is to be a mistake. It's not as uncommon as people think.

No telephone call or anything just a txt saying "We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you."

The likelihood of you being awarded over not awarded based on paper is unknown, it can go both ways. It really does depend on your condition/s and evidence. There is no logic

Hopefully you will hear soon and get the award you should have. Still, be prepared to ask for a mandatory reconsideration if you are not awarded or not awarded what you feel you should be. Don't phone and ask for this as they will take that as your request and you won't have the opportunity to have your say. Put it In writing with bullet pointed for each descriptor explaining why you don't agree with the points given.

Thankyou I appreciate the advice. I don't know a lot about pip or benefits. So this is all new to me.

My daughter’s PIP was awarded off a paper assessment. It was her first claim, and she was awarded enhanced for both daily living and mobility.

it is impossible to guess, though. I hope you hear soon

TheShellBeach · 18/12/2022 17:46

It just means the person who did your phone call has written their report.
Be prepared for them to knock you back because the DWP are cunts. You should then apoeal. I spent a year on my appeal and eventually won it.
Good luck OP.
