First time posting. I just need some advice please.

I have had a default on my credit file from barclaycard. I have been in a stressful situation since May and have totally not been on top of making payments (I am usually used to making it on the app but I got a new phone and could not activate the app). They have defaulted my account from Nov however this is preventing me from getting personal loans I need for my house repairs . I have just managed to scrape the outstanding balance owed to them (800ish) and I am wondering if I plead to them and make the full outstanding and if they would remove the default as good will? I have tried to contact them before the default was added but there call queues have been horrendous and dont have time to wait hours to get through with 2 young dc.

anyone had experience of similar situation??

I think that since it’s factual it has to remain on there. You did get the default so even once you are up to date you can’t expect them to remove factual information

Sadly that's probably a blot on your credit file for the next 6 years.

All you can do is make the payments without fail from now on (clear the card if you can and then use it to pay for some of your normal expenditure, eg petrol, and set up a direct debit to clear the whole balance each month). The effect of the default will reduce in time, but it could be a couple of years or more before you'll have your pick of loans, especially as lenders are probably wary of bad debt at the moment.

You can try to apply for loans from your own bank, who see your salary every month and current account conduct, but in lender's eyes, you're not a good bet at the moment.
