I started handing in sick notes into universal credit may 2022 i then got my work capability assessment through the post on 25th july it got completed and sent back that day, I then received my decision letter on the 13th September saying that I have limited capability to work and work related activities. I’m just wondering when I’ll receive my first lcwra payment and if it will get backdated if so when will it get backdated from, my assessment period with universal credit is 14th -13th

I only got word back on the 1st of may. Does that mean I will be owed aprils?

The extra is paid from the fourth full assessment period after you started handing in sick notes , so If I have worked it out correctly I think you will be owed one month back pay.

I wrote in my journal about it and they are now saying 3 months from when I was awarded it is this correct?. I’ve been handing sick notes in from 30th of November and got awarded on the 1st of may, assessment period is 16th to 15th, they are saying not entitled until the 22nd of June which wouldn’t be 3 months from I was awarded. So confused

It's the fourth UC assessment period after you started handing in sick notes unless you were previously on LCW ?

Hi. I provided a 3 month sicknote to uc on feb 15th. I had my assessment call on 29th april and was told I was accepted for lcwra on 3rd may. When will I receive my first payement. I find it all so confusing!!

Bridieswaine · 23/05/2024 17:40

Hi was just wondering if anyone could give any advice ?

I started my uc claim in 2018 and came in once or twice and they said I didn't need to come in in person anymore and that I was unfit to look for work I gave them my first sicknote in 2018 then after I wasn't asked to provide them with anymore

In 2023 November I was pass for enchanced rate pip on both elements I was later asked if I was assessed for lcwra and I said no becuse I never new about it someone later told me my work coach should have refered me back In 2018 is that right?

If so will i be backdated to?

You should have continued to hand in sick notes until you had been assessed. I think not continuing to hand them in would stop the work capability process. Did you ever fill in a UC50 form like a booklet asking bout your health ?

I first handed my first sick note in on the 18th April 2023 for a continued medical condition. I’ve only just been awarded LCW (4th September 2024) will I be entitled to receive any back payment from this period or does it not work like that?

If you ahve just been awarded LCW rather than LCWRA then there is no extra money if just LCW. Therefore there would be no back pay. If awarded LCWRA ( Limited capability for work and work related activity ) then you would be owed a significant amount of back pay as that comes with an extra element of £414 a month which is backdated to the fourth Uc assessment period after you started handing in sick notes.

You will get backpay to the fourth UC assessment period after you started handing in sick notes so maybe from around nov/ Dec 2023 depending on exact dates that fit notes started.

Thank you Babyroobs for replying, do you have any idea when they' ll start paying me the monthly rate, will I have to wait 3 months? Also how long does it take roughly to get the backdated ?

I would imagine a few weeks for the backpay. Your extra LCWRA element ( £414 a month I think ) should be paid from your next payment.

Write a message on your journal under payments. That should then go straight to your case manager.
