new john lewis card issues

i've got a new john lewis credit card the old one was discontinued and i changed to their new provider
i have always managed my cards very well buy using it fir points etc and pay off as i go from my current account.
today they have randomly taken 2 k out of my bank account making me overdrawn.
i cannot work out why as adding up i was totally up to date apart from some shopping yesterday.
there is also a debit yesterday fir 52£ which i did not spend.
tried repeatedly to get in touch but just this awful text conversation with a robot!!
anyone else having issues?

I would be cancelling the card asap, checking the balance and reporting amy transactions you didn’t make.

no i'm not sure at all and as i cannot speak to anyone about it i'm not sure how to progress it.
just reading reviews of the new card provider and they are dreadful.
i'll have to sit down and work out what is going on but i'm no finanancial whizz and that's why i've always paid as i go along .
time fir a new card provider i think

Contact your bank and make claim for a full refund under the Direct Debit Guarantee scheme.

Sorry to hear this. We didn’t apply for the new card as always found the old one absolutely useless. Sad to hear they’re continuing useless.

My mum has been having issues with her new card. I didn’t bother renewing mine as agree they were useless.

We're also finding them useless.

They send me a text to authorise a payment,
then the payment goes through,
then I get an email saying they failed to get hold of me by phone and I need to update my details.
Every time!

And it's hard to pay the bill. Didn't appear on the dropdown menu on Barclays.

Don't get me started on JL! Not over a card but recent non-delivery of an item. Endless failed deliveries; staff lying and then having to apologise for saying things that were not true, and which I called them out on, etc etc

I will never again use JL for things that need delivering. Their customer service is shocking.

One thing I did learn through the catalogue of poor service they threw in my direction is that to 'escalate' you need to fill in the online form. Written down it gets escalated. You can find the form online and follow links till you eventually get to 'make a complaint' about x/y/z.

Good luck. It took hours of my time. They eventually sent a £50 gift card as compensation but, to add insult to injury, failed to pay the postage - which I had to pay before the PO would release it.

They keep blocking my card without warning. Then it takes 24 hours before can use it again. Almost impossible to speak to someone too. 15 years of n the old card with no bother. They also charged me 70 in charges for non payment due to issues with the final bill payment. Really unimpressed so far.

I’m finding trying to do a bank transfer from the card to another provider impossible.

I've found issues with online transactions failing even when verified ok via text. I'm debating switching to another card.

It might be that you’ve had to pay off both balances this month - the old JL card and the new one (it appeared as New Day Ltd on my statement). Damn near cleared out our account! I actually thought either my husband hadn’t been paid or we’d been the victim of fraud until we worked out what had happened.

I have seen articles in the press about former customers being turned down for the new card, but assumed that was due to a change in their personal circumstances. So far I have found it slightly hit and miss in paying for things over £100, it sometimes does not work with the code, in which case I have used my bank card. I am a Luddite so miss my paper bill and I’m not sure when the deadline for payment is, so paid as soon as I checked the account. Not a fan so far so may need to consider alternatives.

The vouchers were the only reason we stuck with them. Their security was incredibly random- always blocking payments for things like my weekly supermarket shop. Customer service was poor. There are much better cards out there.

Hate the new one. My statement is confusing, the drop down menu on the bank doesn't have it, (finally got told it was Debenhams! ).
They text me to say the money is due - but it isn't, The statement doesn't show payments in on the "outstanding balance". It is terrible!

Had a fraudulent transaction appear on my card last night, so froze the card and rang today (no 24hr fraud line) to be told to ring the retailer the payment was made with first rather than put in a claim. I was told if I decide to put in a claim for the fraud team to investigate, if they deem it not to be a fraud I will get a black mark on my credit file!! Not happy at all as I spend and clear the lot monthly and I can't trust them to protect my account! I'm going to close my account and use another provider.
