Carers Allowance

I've recently had a payrise, which puts me over the carers allowance threshold by £1. Will I no longer receive my allowance just because of £1? If I lose it, I will be worse off for working a few more hours. Any advice from anyone who has been in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to pay more in to your pension that way you will stay under the threshold.

Well there has to be a cut off point somewhere but as above see if you can pay more into pension or something.

You can't even go 1p over. You'll need to tell them because they will make you pay it back. Don't delay.

I've been in this position, I pay any extra into my pension as you are allowed to have 50% of pension payment disallowed...or something like that.

Also if you need to buy special equipment, uniform etc for work they will make allowances for that.

Give them a ring or have a look at the gov.uk website
