my dh recieved a letter on monday stating that dh had regisered for online banking with halifax. Well the weird thing is, he dont have a halifax account and has never applied for one. So dh phoned them and they said they will block the account and investigate whats happened.
Then today, another letter came saying that his application has been unsuccessful! Not sure what the application was for and dh forgot to phone!

Will this affect his credit rating (we have only just managed to get a good credit rating back after him having a lot of debts before we got together)

Has anyone had a simular experience?

Could this be a new con system out?[worried face]

We've been getting loads of junk emails from loads of banks we don't have aacounts with but trying to get to us do something or other so they can get our details!

Have you been sent a letter about Child Benefit (as lots of people have) saying that their details may have been compromised?

Perhaps someone just used your details to send you the dodgy letter in the hope you'd think it was real.

As long as you've checked with the Halifax that they haven't sent anything, I wouldn't worry but perhaps check that your accounts have a security watch on them (all banks should be aware of peoples' accounts who's child benefit details have been compromised).
