Carers allowance overpayment

I notified Carers Allowance at the beginning of August (via online form) that I no longer wanted to claim carers. I was no longer going to be providing 35 hours of care to my adult son and I wanted to stop claiming on the 22nd of August.

End of September they were still paying me so I called them. Told them I was very concerned that they were still paying me! I don’t want to get in trouble. They told me they could see I had submitted the form but they were a bit behind and the payments would stop soon. They said they put a note on my account that I called.

Still getting payments at the beginning on November! I’m getting really worried now.

What can I do to get them to stop paying me?!

You can call again but it is an admin process. You are not at fault but keep the money aside to repay if necessary.

Yes, don’t spend the money.

Can you send another email so you have something in writing.

Thank you both.
