Hi so my boyfriend, of a few years moved in with me and he had a lot of unopened letters, after ignoring them for a very long long time.
He had a lot of his plate the last few years and depression and it was easier
To just not deal with it. I
Did know about the debts and said I wanted to help him sort them out thinking it would be be 3/4k its more or less over 10k after We went through it all. He was rubbish with money always has been but has been Trying to live off a budget for a while and has done well.
I know this is his debt but I'm willing
To try to help him(not financially) but to get it in order.im still so angry at the amount and shocked but am
Willing to try and help.
He's had step change previously and didn't keep up with the monthly payments. So can he apply for a different debt management plan ? Any advice welcome thanks xx

He can apply again but needs to make sure he keeps up with the payments. Tell him to go back to stepchange.

I would just sound a word of caution - the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.
Your DP may make progress but do not expect too much - these are deeply ingrained habits that are difficult to overcome without a lot of determination and self discipline on his part. From what you say he doesn't seem to have reached that point yet, and you can't do it for him.
Please beware - watch and wait - do not entangle yourself in your partner's debts.
