Am i missing something?

Im currently on a variable rate and have seen my payments increased quite a bit. We have had a look at remortgaging and hopefully having a bit of equity back to get debt free as we have no spare cash each month. We also have H2B which we are also planning on paying off. While i get there are going to be charges i just dont see how other people afford new deals in general when the cost is so high. Even with our mortgage broker not taking a fee we still need to find nearly £2k to get this deal through. Do people really have that much spare cash to spend every couple of years on a new deal or am i missing something? Just over £1000 is legal fee. Is this high?

just feel deflated that we have an option to help us but needed money to do it 😔

I don't know about H2B terms, OP (help to buy?), but I've always been able to add any deal fee to the mortgage term, so not having to pay it out initially.

Is that no longer the case?
