You need to speak to a solicitor. Your dad left the house to his son but while your mum is still alive surely her name was on the mortgage?
Why would your dad leave the house to an addict?
Was it in his will?

Is there any outstanding mortgage?

Whose name is the house in now? I’m not sure if you mean the house is in your dad’s name or your brother’s name now?

What happened when your dad died - did he make a will? Who did he leave the house to? Was the title deed updated to put the house into the right person’s name?
