Sse Prepayment meter - final bill.. after 21 weeks?!

Hi!

Does anyone know what the script is with prepayment meters and final bills?
we had moved out of a property beginning of June which we used a prepayment meter for the electric
there had been a debt on it, every week a certain amount would be paid towards it through the meter and before we had moved we settled the rest of the debt on the meter over the phone

We’ve received an email from sse on Friday talking about our final bill! 21 weeks after moving out and paying the debt?

Phoned sse who had advised they had noted we had moved out on 3rd of June but also that the debt hadn’t actually been getting paid?? which i don’t believe because the amount would reduce every week on the meter and also, when we phoned up to pay the remainder of the debt they had never mentioned any other outstanding balance

anyone been in a similar situation? Confused

I had a bill a year after I moved out from eon. Then a bailiff letter despite logging in and seeing a zero balance.
turns out someone had created an additional account in error and it was only flagged when I called about it.

Just wanted to wish you luck with SSE OP.

We had a tenant on a PP that was changed after it stopped working during a thunderstorm. They were sent a bill of £1300 claiming the meter hadn’t been working for 2 years. Utter nonsense. They then sent an amendment to £953 saying they could only legally back- charge for a year.
Only when I said I was taking it to the ombudsman they ‘ found’ all the tenants money.
Never got an apology.
Took several months and many hours on the phone to resolve.
