Energy Refund

I pay two direct debits - £25 for electricity and £100 for gas to British Gas.

I've had £25 refunded via my bank today, but the other £42 has been applied as credit to my electricity account.

Is this correct?

I was already over £200 in credit on each account.

Ignore me, I see that it is correct. Obviously didn't read up properly the first time!

Me again...

For my future refunds, can I request they refund it against my gas account, so that money actually goes back into my bank? Putting it onto my electricity account is just putting me further into credit, which I don't benefit from right now.

I think you'd need to ask them to transfer the credit from your electric to your gas each month - it won't be applied directly to your gas account.

But then wouldn't it still just be added as credit, not actually as a refund to my bank account?
