PAYE & Tax codes.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm terrible at understanding this stuff!

On my payslip for this month I have had more taken of with PAYE tax than last month about a £50 difference.

My gross pay is the same as last month and my tax code is the same.

Is this normal thing to happen?

No but maybe there is an adjustment being made. Have a look at what else has changed on the payslip and talk to payroll/HR if you need an explanation for changes.

If your tax code is not w1/m1 then it’ll be correct, tax codes without m/w 1 are cumulative so collect tax over the course of the year based on your taxable earnings.

If you've worked there on the same salary since April then it's wrong. If it's a newish job then last month probably had a tax adjustment for previous pay and this month is how much you'll be getting each month now.
