Does equity on a house affect universal credit?
A friend is in a good but low paid job and hasn't claimed yet because of being unsure what's what. Thank you

No provided you only own one property and that is your home.

Only if she wants to claim rent/housing element for a different property if her relationship has broken down for example.
If she is living in that home she can claim UC but will not receive help with housing costs they don't count they equity until she receives an income from it.

She's single with an older teen. It's the only home, so this means she can still get help?
Sorry I'm a renter and barely know what equity means 😬

Her house value has no impact if it's her home and she doesn't own other properties which would have an impact.
