i'll try and keep this succinct
In January my energy supplier wrote to me saying my tariff was ending and I should move to 'their recommended tariff' in April.
I didnt have the headspace to shop around and they have a rep for being one of the good guys so I selected the one they recommended.
Since then, and prior to this i've had to ask for bills despite a smart meter because it doesnt work properly they download the data. Every time they say its fixed and it isnt
Last bill was May, when they promised the issue was fixed, start of July I chased as once again no bill. I upped my payments based on their predicted usage. They then acknowledged an issue with meter that was more than they realised and would look into it...month later nothing, so I made a formal complaint. 8 weeks pass, still nothing, so I refer to the ombudsman FINALLY my energy supplier contacts me.
once again says issue fixed, gives me a bill which includes April (a month ive already been charged for) and I go from being £1200 in credit to £300 in arrears
In talkng, the complaint person then realises I shouldnt be on the tariff they suggested in January because its more expensive, they should have offered renewal of my old tariff (for electric vehicles) so she manually works out bill and says it should be £132 less, so in theory im now only £170 in debt.
She says she'll call back today with an offer on how they can make it right.
I need to query why ive been charged for April twice, but what would be seen as reasonable compensation for them wrongly proposing a tariff, not sending me timely bills, continually saying a problem is fixed but hasnt been (and I still can only take their word for it)
Has anyone been in a similar position and what were you offered, what did you accept?
It isnt relevent really but whilst all this has been going on, my employer stopped paying me so in addition to worrying about the bills im also facing tribunal in December and my stress levels and through the roof. I have a new job but its only part time so my salary has dropped 40% in addition to missing 2 months pay.
All sense of reasonableness has left me. Im fed up of companies not doing the blummin basics and I dont want to take the bare minimum just to make their life easier
