@Spirogyra I think an ongoing thread would be a good idea. I don't personally have much to contribute at the moment as I'm just doing the same things every month. I wish Appen would pick up again, I'd like a new project even if just short term!

8DPWoah · 20/10/2022 20:33

I'm having another dire month BUT on the upside have had a little bit of S Sci today and also have got onto a really straightforward App transcription project that seems really well run and is UK based too... Muj* if anyone has it in their list. WWW is diabolical still but apparently it's because the uni stuff hasn't really kicked back in yet, which I partly believe.

BecauseOfIndia · 21/10/2022 08:11

@8DPWoah I qualified for that Appen project but haven't been contacted - have you been given a start date? I have access to the chat so I can see that people are working.

Seems like this with every Appen project these days, I spend precious time qualifying but never get any work!! It's infuriating.

BecauseOfIndia · 21/10/2022 08:17

I received this email this morning but sadly I don't have the necessary hardware. Sounds like a nice little earner for anyone who does -

I've received an email to say to log in to complete the qualification task but it doesn't seem obvious as how to do it 🫤

Mrsmch123 · 21/10/2022 22:27

Honestly don't know how people make £££. Sci I signed up and never heard anything. Appen started good then feel off a cliff.......
havent passed the test for crisp yet🙈

ruralwanderer · 22/10/2022 07:59

@Mrsmch123 it takes time, patience and persistence. It took 2 years between applying to S Sci and starting to write for them but now it's my main source of income. Likewise, I was on the Crisp waiting list for a year and it was another year before I was accepted to pay per hour work.

It's why I generally recommend starting with Intellizoom and Prolific as you see results more quickly which can help to keep you motivated. Good luck Smile

PoseyFlump · 22/10/2022 08:15

I like the idea of the next thread being an on running thread. I read every post to keep up with everyone but I've had to take a 'real' job so I'm limited now in time. Would love another App transcription job. Don't really have time for all the hoop jumping for many of the transcription companies. How quick is Rev qualification, anyone know?

UnicornPaintedOrnament · 23/10/2022 10:53

Joining if I may?

I did Appen but don't really get it so not made any money on it. It seems a bit confusing.

I always did Prolific and Attapoll. I also use another one on my phone called Curious Cat if that's allowed to be mentioned? I make around £50 a month across the 3, not much by this threads standard, and I could do with making more.

I’ve also signed up to Appen and am totally confused by it. A lot of the ones I have applied for say that I need to add a payment method and fill in various profile things but there is no links or info on how to do any of this - any help appreciated.

howfartospar · 23/10/2022 20:57

Has anyone been able to create a profile with Te*mwork.ai or Li@nbridge? I can't see anything on the websites.
TIA

Flakystuff · 24/10/2022 18:34

Hi, I’m pretty desperate for money this money due to CoL.
I have signed up for everything that you have generously mentioned l, thank you! 😊 I’ve had no word back from any of them so I wonder if any of you have hints or tips to get picked? Or anything else I can sign up to that will help me out? DM me or post please? Thank you all so much.

Flakystuff · 24/10/2022 18:35

*month lol

lookthisway · 25/10/2022 12:22

A lot of it involves waiting, like others mentioned I waited 18 months plus to get on Crisp. With Appen it took about a year to get on a decent project.

Soulfullofsunshine · 26/10/2022 20:38

Hello,

Is anyone doing the in*x on appen qualification?
Passed first test then failed all 3 attempts on the 2nd :( so frustrating as needed 90% second time I got 88% and my final attempt I got 80%!

So disappointed with myself as this would have been a great project for potential earnings

Fairylightstonight · 27/10/2022 07:42

Hello everyone
thanks for the surveys tips, I’ve been playing with Omee, planning on saving up any earnings to use for Christmas 2023 gifts and take away any worries there
as someone with a teaching qualification and experience teaching English as a foreign language abroad are there any recommendations? This would be for evening/weekend work only. Any ideas on where pays the most?
also, I once heard of transcription work which I imagine could fit in around general life, any recommendations there?
thank you all.

RiverSkater · 28/10/2022 10:18

Envying those with potato shifts. I just do the regular chugging work. It's soulless. Got told off for letting items expire but it's so hard not too when it's fetching and you never know when it'll stop. So now I've got the fear of being dumped from it. And I can't not have it.

I've never worked for such a cold soulless organisation. The only interaction is a telling off.

yoshiblue · 28/10/2022 21:37

@LolaMontezz Newbie here, can I ask how you all manage tax for these income streams? Do you declare it as self employed income from the get go, or only once established? I presume people aren't bothering if you're just getting a minimal amount from surveys per month. Any advice most welcome!

PoseyFlump · 29/10/2022 07:38

@yoshiblue yes we do tax returns. However I think you don't have to initially if the income is low - £1k a year I believe, but make sure to keep accurate records in case you go over.

@RiverSkater TBH the shift work is utterly soulless too! It's also a bun fight every friday afternoon to try and get them.

I can totally identify with you though - I was recently told off for letting items expire as well, which confounded me as I hardly ever work in ppi. When I went and looked at my work history I had done less than £1 of ppi, and I worked out it and it meant I had left 1 item untagged!! Like you, it would have been when it was fetching. It's not realistic to expect us to sit in front of a screen for ages waiting and not earning. Her tone in the email was so rude - "this must not go on..." etc. Crazy!!!

yoshiblue · 29/10/2022 08:44

@PoseyFlump Thanks kindly

The way crisp is run is a disgrace, I've never worked for such a terrible bunch of cunts.

I hoped the American buy out would improve things but nope. They should be embarrassed about how they treat their staff.

LeSquigh · 29/10/2022 11:45

Yay! I passed Crisp on my second go. I missed out by one mark when I did it about a year ago so have given it another go. Does it take a while to get any work from them?

PoseyFlump · 29/10/2022 13:51

@LeSquigh I passed summer last year... still waiting 😂
