Thanks @ruralwanderer 🌟

Does anyone know if Appen is down at the moment?

Riggsisadino · 07/10/2022 21:53

How long does it take for people to get surveys in prolific got one through but know nothing for a week

RightsHoarder · 08/10/2022 07:50

@Riggsisadino you have to keep it open and maybe add the browser extension that tells you when a survey is available. They just pop up and vanish again. You have to watch it like a hawk and jump on them.

Also, make sure all your questions are answered and your about me is at 100% all the time.

I've managed one this week, they come and go very quickly. My record was £18 worth in one day but it only happened once. Remember too, these are research/academics managing them so certain times of year are busier/quieter. Universities (Inc post-grad/research) are just knuckling down now so there should be more trickling through soon.

This week has been odd. I did 9 on Monday, which was a record for me. Then I didn't get any notifications on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday). On Thursday and Friday I only did 1 each day but they were £6.75 and £5 respectively. There were a few others I could have done but they didn't fit in with the time I had available.

Riggsisadino · 09/10/2022 00:09

Thank you! I leave it open I only have my phone so don't know how to set up a notification

nubnubnub · 09/10/2022 08:29

Do I need to log onto the platforms for jobs or do they email you? Thanks

MingoDringo · 09/10/2022 08:40

Can anyone explain search sciences please? And is it easy to be accepted and can you earn okay money?

I'm so bored of crisp! Thank you

AnotherOne4 · 09/10/2022 13:58

Forgot to submit my invoice for Ap, anyone else ever done this? What did you do?

Geamhradh · 09/10/2022 14:24

@nubnubnub Appen will suggest things to you and "Jim" from Prolific sends an email, but I've never yet clicked through to discover the survey still there. You're best just leaving the tab open. A number 1 appears if there's a survey.
@AnotherOne4 yes, I've done that- you can carry it over to the next month, it will still show as an invoice you need to generate iirc.

AnotherOne4 · 09/10/2022 15:13

@Geamhradh Thanks. The invoice isn't for much, but every penny counts! lol

ruralwanderer · 10/10/2022 06:43

@MingoDringo Search Sciences is writing internet content. Once accepted, you are issued briefs to be completed within specified deadlines and the quality standards required are very high. This suits me great as I am doing it as my main income and it fits my skills and experience well. It may be arduous if doing it alongside a "real life" job.

LeSquigh · 10/10/2022 22:33

Hi all

I have just signed up to Appen but every project I have looked at asks the following question:

Company currently working as SEE?

What does this mean? Can anyone help? What do I put there?

ruralwanderer · 11/10/2022 06:57

It wants to know if you're working as a Search Engine Evaluator for any other companies. From the sounds of it, the answer will be N/A Smile

ImStillMe · 12/10/2022 17:31

I got 17/20 on Crisp...is it different questions if I try again?

Geamhradh · 12/10/2022 17:36

No, just keep doing it till you hit 19. Put ALL possible answers in.

AutumnScream · 13/10/2022 22:22

Just signed back up to qmee. The surveys are really long and boring for pennies but im desperate. Im getting pissed off as im doing ten minutes work on them only to be rejected!

RiverSkater · 15/10/2022 11:15

Might be too late for this year but every year councils have to update their register of voters and they need staff to follow up with houses that haven't responded.

Worth contacting your local council to see if they still need people.

Then you are on their contact lists and could help with other election work.

ruralwanderer · 18/10/2022 07:59

3 days and no posts - hopefully it means that everyone's been busy earning? Thought I'd check in and see how everyone's doing.

My car blew up last week and we've all got COVID (after avoiding it for the last 2.5 years!) so this week's not going great but I've managed to do a Potatoes shift and have been early or on time with all of my S Sci work so I'm pleased with that. Don't think it's looking like as great a month as I would have liked but I'm just not feeling it right now.

Spirogyra · 18/10/2022 23:34

Oh bad luck, the car & covid! I also got what I think was covid last month for the first time. My head felt too woolly to do any work, I was off potatoes for about a week. I am trying to be more consistent on there now, but sometimes just can't face the boredom of it.

Had a nice surprise with the lastest statement though, last month was just over £750, so £100 more than I thought, due to the shift bonuses, & the most I have earnt on it for a very long time. l was lazy over summer but also only work when on a shift & there weren't so many on offer.

These threads have got a lot quieter this year though. On last months thread l was going to suggest having an ongoing thread, as it doesn't seem busy enough to start a new one every month. It would also be easier for people to read back & get info, as there are some questions that are asked most months. As this thread has the month in the title, perhaps we could start with the next one, giving it a title with no date?

Spirogyra · 18/10/2022 23:36

l also work when there is a surge of course, but they have become rare again lately

ruralwanderer · 19/10/2022 07:40

I'm really bad with Crisp, I need to make more effort but I find the PPI work very demotivating. Even when it's busy I struggle to make £10 an hour so tend to only work the Bespoke shifts I can get so usually earn less than £100 a month on there.

Not a bad idea about letting the thread run a while to see if it picks up again. What does everyone else think?

Geamhradh · 19/10/2022 08:05

Had a little flurry of excitement with Prolific earning a tenner in an hour last Monday and since then one for £1.30 and one for 30p. Hey ho.
Confused
Sympathies re car and Covid @ruralwanderer . Our bathroom blew up last week. I'm washing the sink and suddenly realised my feet were wet and there was a very big noise. Some pipe had cracked and so it's been men with spanners and no hot water for days and a tenner from Prolific isn't going to cut it! Gah!

ruralwanderer · 19/10/2022 12:19

@Geamhradh what a nightmare, I hope it won't be too expensive to fix and there wasn't too much damage Flowers
