Does anyone know if Halifax tells you what payments are due IN your account? I know other banks do but can’t see this with Halifax, only payments coming out.

I don't think so OP, sorry.

Mine doesn't seem to anyway

SpinningFloppa · 27/09/2022 11:41

Ah thanks thought not, someone said you can but I’ve been looking and there is no option I can see.

I can only see 'upcoming payments' and 'pending transactions'.

Winnietheshite · 27/09/2022 11:46

I can't see incoming bank credits. Sometimes a debit care refund will show in pending. But that's it.

If you're registered for mobile app, you can register for push notifications.

You'll get a notification every time you make or receive a payment

Halifax credit payments as soon as they receive them (although this is apparently not the same thing as being able to draw against the payment), so if they have received it you can see it. Most of my incoming payments are faster payments and credited straight away, but I had one a few months ago that wasn't, and it showed as "in the account" immediately, but wasn't available to draw against for (I think) 3 days - there was a note about that on the account under details.

I’m not sure what you mean? In that it has some sort of Mystic Meg talent and can tell you that Great Aunty Betty is going to pay you £10 next month?? Or on the basis that you get a standing order payment in every month from your Great Aunty Betty?
I’m genuinely intrigued btw as I only have a Halifax account, so wonder what other banks offer? The mobile app tells me what payments I have going out each month, not what’s coming in (as again, how would they know unless it’s a regular payment every month?)

SpinningFloppa · 27/09/2022 12:01

Yes other banks show what payments are due to be paid into the account, as in on Friday people could see they was due a payment for Tuesday, not when it goes in.... when it’s due to be paid in so you can see in advance, I know Monzo is one of them. Maybe time to change bank accounts .

Monzo show what’s pending to come into the account probably other banks too think it was Barclays

Monzo definitely show incoming money - I could see that my cost of living payment was due today on Friday. You can also draw it down a day early which can be helpful.

This is exactly what I’m talking about, people on Friday said they could see the COL payment due in their account for Tuesday, so in advance. Halifax does not show advance payments due IN (not out) it would definitely be helpful so you can plan ahead. Halifax only tells you when it comes in not what day it’s due in.

I can only see BACS payments, and only the working day before due. I'm with HSBC.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 28/09/2022 16:29

Ah, so it’s been paid into a Monzo account but just not cleared? That makes more sense in that it’s there but just waiting

it will be a BACS payment. Most salaries or one off larger payments are made through a system called BACS. The company has to actually process the payment 3 days before it is due to land in your account. Some banks alert you when someone has ‘submitted a BACS payment request. BACS is a mediator in the transaction I think as a safeguard to the sender. Most often it’s a wage. We get paid on say the 26th that payment was made on the 23rd by the employer but held until the due date in case of a company error or whatever. But it’d be good to be able to check that a BACS payment had been submitted and what /when to expect it especially if it’s a one of large payment.
