Mortgages for returning expats

I've been self employed for 10 years and am considering coming back to the UK now after 5 years away.

Re mortgages, how long will I need to wait to be able to get one? I guess I need to build up a UK credit rating, will that takes ages? Will my past years of accounts (EU country) count or am I going to have to wait a few years until I have UK accounts and tax returns?

We waited just over 6 months and had no trouble getting a mortgage. But not self employed so that might be different.

We returned from the USA to UK and used a mortgage advisor. I think we were only back 6 months and we were approved. We were limited to the products we could apply for but we got one ok.
