Home insurance - high value item

I have an engagement ring worth 20k. None of our other personal possessions are worth talking about, all old / low value and hardly any would cost more than £1.5k to replace, which seems to be home insurers' standard question.

We used to have a separate home insurance policy (c£300 - our house is fairly large and would cost c£650k to reinstate) and a separate jewellery insurance policy (c£300) but last year we discovered that Halifax would insurance our home (buildings and contents) plus the single engagement ring as a listed item for £344 so we went with that which was far more economical.

This year Halifax's policy has increased to £475. Even with the rate of inflation, that is >33% increase. No claims made. When queried with Halifax, they said we were on an introductory new customer offer, which has since expired.

Does anyone have another home insurer recommendation that covers such high value items?

Try NFU Mutual.

You'll need a valuation of the ring. If you agree to a long term undertaking you'll get a discount on your premium. They can do your home and contents cover, personal belongings and a specified item all on one policy.

Unfortunately, after such widespread damage from Storms Arwen and Eunice all premiums will have risen.
