Child benefit mat leave

Just planning out Mat leave finances - does anyone know if you get child benefit during mat leave?

Normally I would earn too much for us to claim it, but during my year of mat leave I will earn well below the threshold. Can I claim for that year and then cease claiming when I go back to work? Are the earnings based on tax years?

Yes I'd claim it. You can always keep the claim but opt out of payment if your wages go over £60k again.

Yes you can claim it and yes it’s based on tax year earnings. I claimed short term when I wasn’t working for a few months then stopped it again
