British Gas fixed rate ending

Hi all,

My cheap fixed rate deal for gas and electric ends on 30th September. I have received an email to notify me that it’s ending but that’s it! They said they would be back in touch re new prices and potential fixes (I have done my research about whether it’s a good idea to fix or not etc)

Has anyone else’s fixed rate deal came to an end with BG recently? If so when were you notified about your new prices? Thanks

Our letter said they'll be in touch in September with the new rates.

We finished a couple of months ago and tried to refix both with bg and other companies and all said they're not offering atm.

We just got an offer for a fixed rate but it's super expensive even more than the rate that's gonna be raised by in Oct so 😮

Our fixed rate ended ages ago and we've had one or two offers of very high fixed rates since. We just plan to wing it on the standard variable and run a cold house.

I've been offered the british gas fix to end of Setember next year. 69.9p per unit of electricity!! I can't see how we can cut electricity use (gas, a bit but we are already really frugal, thermostat set at 15 in winter)We're on the variable rate and not been offered any fixes before as we were picked up by BG last September when our supplier who we had just switched to went bust. So have been paying through the nose of late. It'll only be worth switching if Martin Lewis's predictions are right. Even then it will mean paying a LOT extra for September then about 45% more October to end of December then IF the price predictions are right and it goes up 52% January - end of March and up again 22% then I'd claw some money back. The MSE calculator reckons it is 133% more for us so worth considering with their 140-150% barrier. It feels a bit risky - paying out almost £400 extra before Xmas and then claw back later ...but what if Truss announces some freeze or cap after Xmas and we have paid out all that money?? We are going to sleep on it and hope the deal is still on my account tomorrow.

What did you decide @SapatSea? What was the price per unit of gas?
