some cards offer 'super balance transfers' which means you can transfer money to your bank account

I know virgin and abbey do it. At least they did this time last year. Think Egg do aswell

purplemonkeydishwasher · 22/01/2008 10:17

you probably could. call them and find out.

Disenchanted · 22/01/2008 10:18

its abbey that sent DH a letter saying he had already been approved forthis card.

Ill get him to ring them, obviously i wouldnt use the card to buy anything, just transfer the catolouges onto it, pay it off and then get rid of it when im done!

You need to go onto www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/stooze-cash-credit-cards. Go down to super balance transfers, this is the bit buggerycrap was talking about.

Just because you have been approved for the abbey card there is nothing to say you wouldn't for one of the ones listed on moneysavingexpert - it is just a marketing ploy to get you to take that one. Read the article to see which offers the best deal then apply for it. You can always get the abbey one if you get refused for another better one!

And watch out for transfer fees - which are usually about 3% and hidden in the small print.
