Maternity Pay

I started maternity leave this week and have received in my payslip my normal salary plus what looks like 4 weeks SMP. Has anyone else been paid their salary plus SMP in the same month? What reason my employer would do this? My understanding that SMP replaced employers salary or have they paid me next months SMP?

It's probably easier to ask your employer what they've paid you for. People.here will just be guessing won't they?

Payroll are slow so just asking for any other experiences in meantime

Have you received higher net pay or the same?

Look carefully at your payslip as you may see two SMP entries which cancel each other out. In my experience when you get your full salary the SMP is shown as a notional payment & deduction.
