Occasional UC?

Hi

I have not claimed UC before but my new job has a lower salary which apparently means I am entitled to £100 UC per month if this was my only income. However, I have a 2nd zero hours contract job from which I usually earn around £200. However this extra £200 is not guarranteed and depends on how much work is available. It could drop to zero some months. Is it possible to open a claim for UC so it acts as a back up if my 2nd job income falls to 0? I would rather work and earn the money obviously but it isn`t reliable.

Many thanks

You can but if you had six months of zero payments I think they will close the claim and you would then have to re-open it.
