Energy Company want to take a reading (Smart Meter - no DD)

Probably just working myself up into a tizz but has anyone else got letters from their providers saying they need to take their readings? We pay for what we use and have a smart meter. I guess they just want to check the figures add up on the meter before winter.

We’ve cut down massively on electric since the increase though, partly because of cost and realising how much we were using, we were very big wasters and partly because baby sleeps through the night so there’s no longer lights and TVs left on 24/7

Checked a bill before the increase to the most recent and we’ve knocked 100KWH off our monthly use. I’m just terrified they’re suspicious or something.

Yes, me too. I had an email from my provider yesterday asking for a meter reading but I also have a smart meter. I do pay by DD though. I ignored it as I thought it was probably spam but not sure if I should check anyway.

Oh phew glad I’m not the only one💕 It is confusing though because they can surely see in real time how much were using 🧐 xxx

I had emails but when I called it said I had smart meters so didn't need to. All automated!

Your smart meter might not be working properly. Ours has never sent information to the company reliably so we still have to submit readings.

Meters have to be visually inspected periodically for safety purposes.

Our smart meter didn't send readings as it had an error and so I have to send them manually every month.

I called the company and they said it was a network error but it's never been resolved so now I just do it every month

Ah, this explains why we had a meter reader round this week, I was quite confused as we have smart meters. In fact we've probably had them for about a year, so that would tally.

Well done for reducing your energy usage so much @xxcatcatcatxx - we're all going to need to be doing what we can this winter.
