dizzydo · 25/01/2008 20:38

Just to let those of you who dont know ........ if you make a payment by 31 Jan of what you calculate the tax to be, you wont pay the £100 fine You can send the Return later.

At least that's what the guy at the Revenue told me this morning

policywonk · 26/01/2008 17:23

Iorek - have a look at this page (if you're still looking for info about bills)

IorekByrnison · 26/01/2008 17:53

I posted my tax return today

stoppinattwo · 26/01/2008 18:26

I posted mine yesterday [yay]

ScienceTeacher · 26/01/2008 19:25

It's a great feeling, isn't it. I first did mine in May or June, and it said I was due a decent refund. I put it off and off (for no particular reason), and had another go during the Christmas holidays.

I printed everything out and came across a couple of problems that prevented me from posting it - eg didn't know where to send it, and also couldn't find anywhere to sign.

My big goal for today was to get it all sorted before the Post Office closed at lunchtime. I quickly sorted my two problems and it was really a no brainer. I don't know why I didn't follow through when I first worked on it.

newyearnightmare · 29/01/2008 00:40

just got around to doing this - omens are definitely against me as my keyboard packed up today and have had to dig out another one

just wondering if anybody knows at which point you change from being a person that does a couple of days work for a friend and gets paid for it (and so sticks the amount in the miscellaneous extra income box) to needing to register as self employed?

am currently 6 months pg so not planning on doing any more work for at least a year so not really wanting to have to pay to set up a company if it is then not going to get used!

many thanks in advance.

Yay...... it's done

dizzydo - that's a great5 relief to know I can make a paymnet of what i estimate my tax to be and submit the return later if I wildly underestimate - eg send in £200 when really it should be nearer £2000 will that do?

zookeeper · 30/01/2008 11:10

As you can see I'm in a bit of a state trying to get my return done - I meant to ask if I just send a token sum saying that I think that that's what I owe and submit the return after 31st will I avoid the £100 penalty?
