Have just this minute done mine online. I have had help with it over the past few years so I am not sure its even right.

alfiesbabe · 20/01/2008 22:21

Boco · 20/01/2008 22:28

I did it!

It was actually quite fine, partly because I only earned about 20p.

Oblomov · 20/01/2008 22:32

Assetive ?
Shame on you all you naughties - says oblomov who deliberatly spends time on mumsnet to avoid to Corp Tax calculations.
I shall get off here, before I get myself in any more 'hypocritical' trouble.
Alfie, you naughty girl, no Greggs for you

alfiesbabe · 20/01/2008 22:34

Oh Boco! Aren't you supposed to round it all to the nearest pound? So you earned.... nothing!
Oh well- at least you go to the top of the class!

OP posts:
Boco · 20/01/2008 22:38

No well 20p was an exaggeration, but just not much.

virgo · 20/01/2008 23:24

chasingsquirels - thanks vv helpful..I've paid some on account for next years but not as much as they wanted me to - will they do the same again??

UnquietDad · 20/01/2008 23:33

Stressed for ages over mine - I hate it, especially working out the bank interest - and finally did it mid-Jan...

... and found out they owe me! Woo-hoo!!

Flibbertyjibbet · 20/01/2008 23:43

I've had my foot up DH's backside since MAY when I did mine. Then he turns round last night and says 'can you do my tax return?' so we did it this afternoon.
The tax return that is.
Now he is moaning cos I want the £250 he used to pay an accountant each year to do it before he met me

cottonflee · 21/01/2008 01:28

I haven't done mine either, they sent me a form and then said I didn't need to do one this yr. But, I would rather be safe than sorry, so I will be taking it to the tax office on thursday.

thritbies · 21/01/2008 13:47

grrr and

Cannot find a trace of my UTR in the house, despite the fact I know I had it to register in OCtober. This registration is now inexblicably invalid, and local tax office are posting UTR to me today (allegedly) by 2nd class post- no they cannot fax it, no they cannot tell it me on the 'phone, no they cannot send it 1st. So I have to hope it gets here on the 23rd and I can still hopefully get my pin in time. Good news is if you think you dont owe them any tax they will cancel the £100 fine so I am told.

alfiesbabe · 21/01/2008 19:23

Oooh some of you are making good progress. I'm afraid I havent got any further with mine . And I've just got in from work and have a presentation to write tonight so I don't think it's going to happen.
Would it be acceptable to give it to my GCSE Maths class to do tomorrow? I mean, it's putting their learning into a real life context isn't it? Or am I just clutching at straws here.....

I got up early to do mine online yesterday.

Then spent an hour looking for P60, but it doesn't take long once you start as long as you have rounded up the information.

I'd overpaid my tax...by the grand total of...wait for it....£1.

There's an option to give some or all of your overpayment to charity...not that my £1 will go very far.

P60 gone for a walk here too

Niecie · 22/01/2008 01:37

DH is an accountant and he has dozens to do - including his own! Everybody seems to leave it to the last minute. He is working on the basis that the revenue won't charge you interest so long as your letter is post marked 31st January (he read it somewhere). I hope he is right or he will be paying a fair amount in charges!

I don't think he will be getting any time off in the next two weeks though.

MaLopez · 22/01/2008 01:40

All done They owe me as they collect on account for the next year so will refund with one hand and then collect for the current tax year on account

But at least, all done and dusted and submitted with no recourse to a glass of brandy. Hmm. Then again...
